Christmas Party Venue Change? Posted: December 7, 2022
Posted by Webmaster in : Club News , add a commentFellow CORCers,
We need your input on a last-minute proposal…
Dan Weber has proposed that we move the Christmas meeting next Wednesday from Red Lobster to Hideaway Pizza on Campus Corner (577 Buchanan Street).
Dan says the video projector setup at Hideaway is better and the room is larger than the one at Red Lobster. He also has the room reserved for us… He writes:
Does anyone want to move the Christmas party to Hideaway Pizza at Campus Corner in Norman? They have a nice sized back room with a projector and screen already installed. the room is large and can seat approximately 65 easily. I reserved the room (actually forgot to mention this at the november meeting) If not, that is ok too but we will need to find/make a projector screen for the red lobster venue. Then menu at Hideaway has pizza, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, and several pasta dishes, the food is pretty good.
If you are planning to attend, please send your preference to Dan at Daniel.Weber@tinker.af.mil and let him know: Red Lobster or Hideaway? Whatever your opinion on the topic, please send it to Dan so he can determine what you all want to do.
Radio Interference Update Posted: November 15, 2022
Posted by Webmaster in : Club News, URGENT NOTICES , add a commentIn July of last year, some channels in the 72MHz band were suspended from use at CORCS:
FREQUENCIES………23…….24……25……. WILL BE SUSPENDED at C.O.R.C.S. Field until further notice. These frequencies are being spiked every 10 to 20 min. Due to the unsafe characteristics of these channels, for SAFETY… I am suspending…..yes that means DO NOT USE these Frequencies at the Field until we announce that they are clear to fly again. If for any reason a member sees that you are flying any one of these channels, they will ask you nicely to not fly your aircraft. We will appreciate your help in monitoring these channels for the SAFETY of Everyone… Thank you Scott Mayberry Pres.
Some members were inquiring about this situation and if the problems still existed. The subject was brought up at last night’s meeting. Members who check the scanners regularly said that they are still seeing a lot of “hits” on those channels.
The problem still exists and the ban remains in effect.
Please keep this in mind when flying. A new frequency board is in the works so we can more clearly mark the “no-fly” channels as such.

Members: we’ve got a stack of wood leftover from the tree damage caused by the storms earlier this summer. It’s free to any members that want to haul it off.
If you want to pick it up, please do so during daylight hours.
