Tinker AFB Star Spangled Salute Posted: June 7, 2023

Blue AngelsThe Navy’s Blue Angels and the Army’s Golden Knights will be in town to perform this weekend at Tinker AFB’s Star Spangled Salute. Everything from aerobatics (Sukhois, Extras, Pitts) to WW2 warbirds (P-51, B-25, P-47) to modern fighters are scheduled to appear.

Other modern military aircraft flying at the air show include the AH-64 Apache, B-2 Spirit, B-1B Lancer, AV-8 Harrier and CV-22 Osprey, KC-135 Stratotanker, E-3 Sentry, and B-52 Stratofortress. Crowd favorite Tora Tora Tora, a Commemorative Air Force reenactment of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor, headlines scheduled appearances by several historic military aircraft. Other vintage warbirds expected to fly include: Retired Brig. Gen. Reggie Urschler’s P-51 “Gunfighter,” Doc Hisey’s Miss America P-51, Mike Anderson’s T-6 Texan, Randy Ball’s MiG -17, Chris Round’s Red Knight T-33 and many more.


Aerobatic legend Sean Tucker and the Oracle Challenger head an impressive list of non-military aerial performers. Tucker is joined on the air show schedule by Oklahoma native Kelly Pietrowicz, Tim Weber in the Geico Extra 300, Doug Jardine’s Sukhoi 26, Michael Hunter’s Accu Check Laser Monoplane, John Klatt’s Staudacher S-300 and the Red Bull aerobatic helicopter team.

One of the most popular Star Spangled Salute activities is the special walk-through tour of the E-3 Sentry air warning and control system aircraft. Additional static display aircraft are: the B-52, B-1B, T-1 Jayhawk, T-6 Texan, T-38 Talon, C-17 Globemaster III, PT-19 Cornell, L-19 Bird Dog, and several vintage, aerobatic and experimental aircraft.
